FAQs
composite decking prices
Our composite decking prices work out between £39.00 to £52.00 per square meter. If your having this fitted by an installer expect to pay between £90 to £120 per square meter depending on location
Is composite decking environmentally friendly
Yes, the majority of the raw material is a recycled or waste product that would otherwise go to landfill. This reclaimed material is mixed into a pulp with some additives ready to be extruded.
How many decking boards in a square metre
2 of our standard 3.6m boards are equal to 1 sqm, this will vary for different length boards so use our decking calculator on the product page.
How to cut composite decking
Any standard wood saw will be suitable to cut through composite decking. The blade however will wear down quicker than when used on standard timber decking so for large areas a secondary blade or saw is advisable.
How many clips to use per board
Divide the overall length of your board in (mm) by 400 then add 2. This will give you the correct reccomended qty. For example 3600mm/400=8. Plus 2. Means you should be using 10 clips per 3.6m board.
Does composite decking expand and contract
Yes, wpc products expand and contract more than you would think. Take this into account when planning your decking area. Our staff are happy to disuss design ideas.
Do I need to replace my existing framework for new composite decking
No, if the existing framework is in sound condition, level with a slight fall and the existing joists are no further than 400m centres then it is not necessary to replace the framework.
Can composite decking boards be fitted to steel framework
Yes, steel frame work is a very secure type of framework but the method of fixing the decking boards will vary. You will need suitable gauge tech screws which will be able to be screwed into the steel with a suitable pan head to suit the spacing clips.
What joist span is reccomended for composite decking
We recommend no greater than 400mm spacing on your joists and where heavy weight or high useage is expected 300mm is preferable.
Do I need to use composite joist for my deck area
No, treated timber is also a common and acceptable frame material. The benefits of composite joists are that they will never rot. If you want your decking to last past 15yrs then composite joists will be worth considering.
How do I fix decking trim to the boards
To secure your composite decking trim to the decking area we recommend pilot holing the trim every 400mm, using a counter sink drill bit so that the screw heads are recessed and using a colour matching wood filler to cover the screw heads.
Do you sell bullnose boards
Currently we do not offer any bullnose boards but our step edge boards and trims can be used effectively to finish off your deck area.
What is the longest deck board available
The longest length we currently stock is 4.8m. We can do special orders for longer lengths subject to a minimum qty.
